D-day 2 weeks!

It’s really hard to believe we began this process in May.  Tomorrow is the first of August and we are almost ready to hit the road for a year.  I sure vacillated between sadness at putting everything we own in boxes, and liberation from so much “clutter”!  Throughout this whole process, I wondered how much I will put back out when we return.  If you saw “Eagle Huntress”, you may have been impressed with how the whole Mongolian family packs up their Yurt and moves into town for the winter every year.  Maybe why they don’t have so many trappings of “civilization” in their homes!  I have more boxes for the kitchen than I do for the rest of the house.  Hmmm…and I’m not even that great of a cook!

We sure will be downsizing as we move into a 27-foot Airstream for a year!  And the hardest part, really, is downsizing: on friends (I will miss you, good buddies!), weaving (my small table loom just isn’t the same), and my music lessons (I promise to practice!).  But Cisco is ready–he keeps peering into the trailer, and I know he remembers good times on the road!

Packing and more packing

Everything in the house, including the Persian rugs, needs to be packed and stored.  I carried our 7 rugs to Arshia Fathali at the Fairhaven Rug Gallery here in town and felt as though I was walking into a Persian market.  He is a collector of many fine Middle Eastern art pieces, including his gorgeous rugs!  So things that we don’t want to have the movers “man-handle” are now in good, friendly hands (antique lamp, Taylor 810 guitar, and of course, rugs).  Different venues, of course!  Movers and cleaners come in a few weeks and we are off to see America (and some of Canada!).

More Prep

Hi avid readers!  We are a month away from our sojourn!  Contract is signed, garage cleaned out (thanks to avid garage sale enthusiasts), and moving company is coming in the first week in August!  It feels good/sad to clear the clutter of a 15 plus year domicile.  I already have a list of to-do’s before we move in again in 2018!!  More to come.
